Wedding Dress or Wedding Outfit

‘The Outfit’ vs ‘The Wedding Dress’

For any mature brides-to-be who are looking for an outfit rather than a wedding dress, some Mother of the Bride outfits can look great as an alternative. Or if its a bolero or wrap you’re after, take a look at the gorgeous ones by UK firm, Wrapor. There are some examples below, and if you are a plus-size beauty then take a look at the dresses by Alfred Angelo Bridal.

But I thought I’d show you a beautiful collection by Jill Harvey… perfectly elegant and great for a mature bride.

Mid-range Bridal Dresses

For those of us with gorgeous curves, it’s time to take a look at some wedding dress collections. Although I’m not a fan of the term ‘plus-size’ I guess it’s what everyone actually puts in a search bar, so I’ve relented. No sense in not being able to find what you want after all…

So here’s a selection of designer, mid-range bridal and budget outfits suitable for the more mature bride.

The first collection I discovered is by Alfred Angelo Bridal and the dresses are available in sizes 8-22.

Great if you’re looking for a traditional wedding dress. This one shown is available in sizes 6-30.

Next up is a floaty Grecian style number from It comes in 3 different shades and is made to order, so no matter what size you need – you can have this dress. plus-size dress

I think I’m probably right in saying that most of us who are 40+ brides would rather cover up their upper arms. No matter how successful the weight loss, it just never seems to make a difference to the wobbly bingo wings, does it?

Not a problem, that’s what jackets, boleros and wraps are for. Here’s just a few I’ve found recently.

UK company Wrapor have a fantastic range of bridal boleros and wraps. Here’s a taster selection from the current bridal collection.

Right, well hopefully that should keep you going with boleros and wraps and I’m sure you’ll find what you’re looking for on the Wrapor site.

Now for some shorter length dresses (and jackets) that are currently amongst my favourites.

This next one from Chesca I’m especially fond of, and you can also get this label at John Lewis.

This next one is from where you’ll find links to more. The dresses are available in satin, taffeta and chiffon.

Short Style Wedding Dress also have a few really nice short dresses – here’s one in a tea-length with empire waist.

This one from AyaBridal on the Etsy site is actually a bridesmaid dress, but would look nice teamed with a jacket or bolero for a mature bride looking for a shorter length and a more informal look.
